T A P I O K A
Hello Indonesia.
Here we are.
They had there pretty amazing sweet stuff that I just could not stop eating. Month later. Now. I open up one of my many notice books … mindbubbling … I found my perfect size of notebook by the way. That will become a funny collection of small mini booklets of episodes, thoughts and stories … end of mindbubbling … and on the very first page there are jumping me some letters right into my face T A P I O C A. The first page of this min booklet contained some more words like ERNA, UBI, BUNGA, BUTTERFLY as well as a cutely drawn butterfly picture. Non of those words made any sense. Maybe one of my meaningless tries to 'press' the languages of the world in ink onto paper. I try to link those words to a situation, a moment, a picture. Nothing appeared. There were hanging in the air like airy clouds about to vanish into non existent.
… and here we are … my tribute to technology … a quick google search and the miracles conclusion got presented in a manner of seconds.
T A P I O C A
WE ARE IN INDONESIA, JAKARTA, LAKE MANINJAU
… and I am about to discover one of my future favourite sweets of Indonesia and the whole world. The incredible, fucking best? Those jelly drops are pretty health, 'cause the tapioca itself is extracted starch derived from the cassava plant and that plant is pretty high in carbs as well as protein, contains no gluten at all and has way to many benefits for a simple turnip. I can't made up my mind if I am more excited abut all those health benefits or the fact, that you can transform this vegetable into a healthy sweet. I love Indonesia for that. In my garden there will grow a bunch of cassava plants.
Do you know, what they can do? No. What they contain? Or both?! I had to 'investigate', I got surprised and yes, no discussion needed: That crop will grow one day in my veggie patch. It's full of vitamins and minerals, low on sodium and cholesterol and contains also a huge amount of copper, calcium and iron.
The only thing you just need to do, is to wait until your turnips are grown big enough to harvest, peel them, grate them and than cook them into those delicious sweet drops covered and rolled in coconut flakes. Any questions?
TAPIOKA
It had to be google to get the link. But now this whole tapioka thing makes sense. Regardless how the family served those sweets to me, normally tapioka shows up in form of tiny small little jelly balls in different colours ... and here we are ... I had them in Malaysia. I saw them in Indonesia. I saw them later on the Philipines. ... and all is just coming from this funny root vegetable.
... and an other funny thing ...
The veggie eaten raw is poisoning you. This rediciolous turnip contains shit loads of poison, if not properly cooked.
… and another logical genuflection towards the mighty ability of the world wide web to present me with linking information …
The Manioka also contains quite a bit of hydrogen cyanide and even cooked there are leftovers that we consume. Hydrogen cyanide is used in homeopathy as emergency medicine for epileptic shocks, asthmatic attacks and other unpredictable break downs like heart attacks or even allergic shocks. Little bits and pieces of the hydrogen cyanide through little sweets from the Tapioca are therefore preventive against heart attacks and minimize the risk of asthmatic or epileptic shocks.
Quite a nice piece of art, that nature presents us here, hey? How sad, that we seem to forgot about it.
